After living in Polzeath for 9 years, and seeing a new shop unit free up, we decided we wanted to bring something new to the village for both locals and holidaymakers.
From Fish and Chips To Soft Play and Arcade
When we first took on the lease for our unit, our plan was originally to open a fish and chip shop. We spent around 18 months working through planning applications, noise reports, architects, ventilation designs and all the other bits and pieces that come with getting a project off the ground. We even got to the point of choosing fryers and finalising layouts when, unfortunately, things changed at the last minute and the project couldn’t move forward.
After a lot of brainstorming, we landed on an idea that was completely different from the original plan! We decided we wanted to create a family entertainment centre with a soft play, café and arcade.
Bringing The Idea To Life
This new plan, as exciting as it was, meant that we had to start from scratch again, and work around getting a whole new set of permissions, licences and approvals. Eventually, with a lot of hard work (and many headaches), we managed to progress through with the plan.
Looking back, it’s been a far bigger challenge than we ever imagined, but seeing Yo Coast finally come together has made it all worthwhile. Especially now that we can properly see what we’ve been working towards.
Opening The Doors
After all our effort, we’re finally able to open our doors!
We’re incredibly grateful for all the support we’ve had along the way, and we’re so excited to be able to welcome everyone to our entertainment venue.
